Saturday, August 21, 2010
-
Thanks to a FEMA Assistance to Firefighters Grant (AFG) Bedford firefighters will be able to breath a little easier; at least while they donn their gear in the apparatus bay. The AFG grant funded the installation of an exhaust removal system that attaches to each rigs exhaust pipe to remove harmful exhaust the trucks produce while running. This system, which cost approximately $80,000.00, was largely funded by the AFG which is a 95/5 matching grant. The system that has been installed is manufactured by Plymovent and uses a trolley and suction rail system.
