1503hrs- Bedford Communications alerted Company 1, Medic 14-1, and SOC personnel to 1304 Longwood Avenue, the Longwood Baptist Church, for a vehicle into the building. Engine 1 (w/four) arrived to find the vehicle inside the building with heavy damage to both. The driver, who was still inside the vehicle, denied injury and thus was able to self extricate. Working with Town of Bedford building officials to determine no shoring was needed, command cleared responding units from SOC. As a precaution the driver was transported to BMH. ... See MoreSee Less

Bedford Fire Department

1147hrs- Companies 1 (Bedford-1st due), 8 (Moneta-2nd due), and 13 (Stewartsville-RIT) were dispatched to 4067 Dickerson Mill Road for a reported structure fire. Engine 1 (with four) arrived at 1155hrs to find a two-story wood frame private dwelling with heavy smoke showing from the first floor. E1's crew stretched a line into the interior as Division 1 while Medic 14-1's crew established two-out.
Ladder 1 (with five) established ventilation and conducted the primary search while next arriving units established water supply. The fire was marked under control with all searches negative at 1226hrs. Due to heavy timber construction, units on scene worked for another two hours to complete salvage and overhaul. Units operating on scene: E1, L1, T1, W1, E13, W82, T8, M14-1, M14-8, and County 10. Total Company 1 personnel: 15.
