Much to everyones surprise, this week was designated as BFD Appreciation Week by the Bedford Fire Department's Ladies Auxiliary. The week was filled with deserts and snacks every day, custom glasses on Tuesday, BFD huggies on Wednesday, a surprise visit by the city mayor on Thursday, and a family dinner gathering on Friday. With an abundance of great food every day, the fireman quickly dubbed it "Make a Fireman Fat Week". The auxiliary; who are comprised of  firemen's wives, daughters, and mothers, went all out the entire week to show their support and appreciation for the firefighters. The ladies hung "thank you" signs throughout the firehouse, provided an italian dinner before the business meeting, ran a very special  "Thank You" ad in the local paper, and presented the  company with a check for $5000.00 just before the company's monthly business meeting. Also present before the meeting was City of Bedford Mayor Skip Tharp, who presented the company with a resolution celebrating the department's 120th anniversary as well as declaring July 7-11 Bedford Fire Department Appreciation week.
